It seems like the marathon training has closely paralleled this marathon of memorizing Scripture. As I’ve been side-lined from running due to a hip injury, I’ve also been side-lined in momentum from memorizing. I’m still going forward though.
One thing you learn with marathon training is that the long runs (a once a week long distance run) are key to doing marathons. Without them, you just really are not equipped to complete a run. Do them too often, your body will wear down.
I think in the same way it is similar with Scripture memorization and and actually anything in life. We can go fast and short, or we can go far and long. Train for the long run.
