“What good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

By the very question we see that this man is lost. He understand law and “doing,” but he doesn’t understand grace and giving.

The scary thing about this message is while I was in Israel, I was able to see the remnants of a “rich man’s” house. The whole house was the size of our living room and our living room is NOT big.

What does that say about us? And even more troublesome is Jesus’ words that “it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.” Most of us who are reading this are rich. We should have a bit of holy fear and trembling when it comes to our relationship with our possessions. But here’s the encouragement–When the disciples immediately asked who then could be saved, Jesus answered, “With man this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible.” Thank God, because if this wasn’t the case, many of us would be in serious trouble. Lord, deliver us from being possessions possessed…
