In our day to day lives it’s easy to miss that this life we live has such a supernatural element to it, one that we forget. I have been reminded of that in the last couple of months after an amazing encounter with the Lord. But it also goes both ways.
Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people. Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve. And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. They were delighted and agreed to give him money. He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.
Did you see it? Satan entered Judas.
I’m sure there was a reason for it. Judas always had problems with how things were run. Money was the issue. It was his security.
Whatever door in his spirit that Judas had open, Satan took advantage of it. It wasn’t just Judas here betraying Jesus. There was a supernatural element as well.
It feels like sometimes Satan has entered a generation. Not saying he has, it just feels like it sometimes when I hear the logic and see the deeds.
But here was Jesus. Satan had entered Judas and Judas, his friend, betrayed him. It would mean his death. Actually both of their deaths as Judas could not live with himself.
It’s a good reminder that our battle is spiritual. In our busyness, we get numb to this reality. Most of us know the following verses well, but it would be good if we all reviewed them.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should Eph 6:10-20.
