Holy Spirit and AI

AI and the Holy Spirit… a Replacement?

There’s always a counterfeit to every part of God.  As I watch the world begin to grapple with and implement the use of AI (because it’s here to stay), it seems more and more that AI is becoming the counterfeit to the Holy Spirit.

AI can be incredibly helpful, and hurtful.  It can even help us in our Bible study.  Yet at the same time, lead us away to a false dependency.

A few weeks ago I heard a man who says it has helped him in his marriage.  When he struggles to understand his wife, he asks AI to give him understanding and insight.

It may seem strange now, but if you remember, all things new are always bad.  Internet used to bad, and now we are completely dependent upon it.

The issue I’m saying is that it seems we do not depend on the Holy Spirit to guide us in the same way.  Not that the newest tech toy takes up all of our time and away from prayer and transformation.  It definitely does do that.

But also when we need help, guidance, and answers to life, the Bible, etc… where are we turning?  To our knees?  Or to AI?

I can’t fully articulate it yet, but it feels like it is the replacement of the Holy Spirit.

Do we trust the Holy Spirit to guide us? Lead us?  To reveal to us the truths of God’s word?

The Christian life, and even ministry, is becoming more and more about exchanges of information rather than transformation.  We are machines who are giving the correct output, but I feel we are losing our heart and soul and connection with God.

Myself included.

The challenge is that tech and things like AI are here to stay.  They are not going away.

How do we walk this out?  How do we implement AI into our lives without allowing it disconnect our dependency upon God?
