“Even after Jesus had done all these miraculous signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him.” v. 37
Sometimes people people will never believe. If they didn’t believe Jesus, we can’t be surprised if at times they don’t believe us as well.
—
“He has blinded their eyes and deadened their hearts.”
Let’s be honest here. This is just a hard one to understand.
—
“Many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved praise from men more than praise from God.” (v. 42-32)
I too have at times in key situations kept quiet about my faith so as not to lose my job. And at times so people wouldn’t think I was a “religious nut.” I can’t condemn this here. I just pray for more boldness.
—
“As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him…There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words” (v. 47-48).
It is a good reminder that I am not the judge of things. Jesus is.
—
“the Father who send me commanded me what to say and how to say it” (v. 49)
It struck me that the Father told me not just what to say, but how to say it. This is valuable and important. Makes me think of Daniel when he asked for “wisdom and tact” (Dan 2:14)

“I know that his command leads to eternal life” (v. 50)
I’m not sure what command Jesus is referring to. Love one another? Go into all the world
