To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

You Don’t Abandon Your Children – Ps 9

There’s a lot that could be said about Psalm 9.  Like every other verse is an acrostic when you combine it with Psalm 10.  Or that it has some musically unique designations such as “higgaion” and “selah” together, terms we don’t fully know what they mean yet.   Or even just the content of celebration that God has turned back David’s enemies and David is celebrating God’s justice.

But this one particular verse touched my heart:

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.  Those who know your name trust in You because You have not abandoned those who seek You, Yahweh” (Ps 9:9-10).

The righteous trust Him because He doesn’t abandon them.

He doesn’t.

We sometimes feel like God has abandon us because we don’t get quick deliverance from our suffering.  We may feel like He has abandon us because our prayers don’t seem answered in the way we want them answered.  Or we may feel like He has abandon us because the things we long for do not unfold.

But we must tell ourselves the truth.  He does not abandon his loved ones.  Even if heaven and earth pass away, he will not abandon You.

He does not abandon us.  Ever.

He is a safe place to trust.

Stop believing the lies.
