What a great picture! The enemies of Israel through a net around them but lo and behold, the net is torn. Praise the LORD.
“Praise the LORD, who has not let us be ripped appart by their teeth. We have escaped like a bird from the hunter’s net; the net is torn, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of Yahweh, the Maker of heaven and earth” (Ps 124:7-8).
Many of us at this point in history don’t fully know the relief from being surrounded by people trying to kill you, and then getting to escape. The praise is almost automatic.
This psalm has overtones of the Exodus, but I’m sure they applied it to other times, worshiping the Lord when he delivered them.
I think it’s a good encouragement in these terrible times we are entering into. The enemy of our souls is looking for every way possible to throw the net around us. And one of these days, he may just be successful.
But we must remember also, our God is the Lord of the Torn Net.
