The Spirit of God as a Deposit

His Blessings Keep Coming – 2 Cor 1:19-22

In God, His promises are always yes.  He does not change his mind.  His desire is to bless and for this we can confidently honor him with our Amen.

“For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No, but in him it is always Yes.  For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory” (2 Cor 1:19-20).

In addition to God being faithful to his ‘yes,’ He also is the One who establishes us together and in Christ.

“And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ” (v. 21)

It gets even better.  He has done great things.  He gives us a security deposit that we belong to Him and He will come for us:

and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee” (2 Cor 1:21-22).

By his Spirit, he has anointed us, sealed us, and given us His Spirit. This is powerful.  We are not left alone.  Nor are we separated from Him.  He gives Himself as proof that He will come for us.  It is a mystery how this works.  But it is His promise, and those in Him know the Spirit in us.
