Blessed are the humble before God and man,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who grieve their sins and the sins of the world,
for they will be comforted through all that Jesus is and does.
Blessed are the powerful who have surrendered themselves to the bridle of God,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who long for righteousness,
for they will find it in Jesus.
Blessed are those who show mercy,
because in the same way they have been merciful it will be shown to them.
Blessed are those who are pure of heart and without guile,
for their eyes will be opened to God in ways that others can’t see.
Blessed are those who engage in the war for peace,
for their yearning for reconciling God and man makes them just like God, in fact sons of God.
Blessed are those who are harassed and abused in big and small ways for doing and believing God’s rightness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
