To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

Does the Depth of Your Sin Ever Stop? Ezek 22

How much evil do you think I can tolerate? That may have been a question of the LORD. Ezekiel 22 is a laundry list of their incessant and incestuous evil:

  • Shedding of blood
  • Idolatry
  • Every prince within you has shed blood
  • Father and mother are treated with contempt
  • Foreigners are unlawfully exploited
  • Fatherless and widow are oppressed in you
  • You despise My holy things
  • You profane my Sabbath
  • You have men who slander to get others killed
  • Eat at the mountain shrines
  • Commit immoral acts
  • You have sex with your mother-in-law
  • You have sexual relations during a woman’s menstruation
  • Adultery
  • Sexual relations with daughters-in-law
  • Sexual relations with your sister
  • Accepting bribes to shed blood
  • Take interest and profit on a loan
  • Brutally extort your neighbor
  • You make dishonest profid
  • Your prophets seize wealth and valuables
  • Your priests do violence to My instruction and profane My hole things
  • They make no distinction between the holy and the common
  • They make no distinction between clean and unclean
  • They shed blood and destroy lives for money
  • Your prophets make up false visions that the Lord has not spoken
  • The people practice extortion
  • They commit robbery
  • They oppress the poor and needy

God says in every way His judgment is warranted.

I searched for a man among them who would repair the wall and stand in the gap beffore Me on behalf of the land so that I might not destroy it, but I found no one” (v. 30).

Therefore I have made you a disgrace to the nations and a mockery to all the lands. Those who are near and those far away from you will mock you, you infamous one full of turmoil” (v. 4-5).

Do we do no less?
