Bring out the proof-texters and naysayers, because it’s right there (Is 9:17):
Therefore the Lord will take no pleasure in the young men,
nor will he pity [have compassion on] the fatherless and widows,
So that’s it. The Lord doesn’t truly care for the fatherless and widows. But let’s look at the next half of that verse:
for everyone is ungodly and wicked,
every mouth speaks folly.
The LORD has great compassion on the fatherless and widow, but if they persist in ungodliness and wickedness, the Lord too will hold them accountable. No one gets off just because of their status. There are no victims that excuse sin.
