To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

Oh, Canada!

I love Canadians!

A number of years ago I was sitting around with people from different nations talking about how God gifts each nation with a special contribution to the world. For the US, it has been mostly resources. For Switzerland, organization and efficiency. For Canada…for Canada…for Canada…

The Canadians were silent at first. I couldn’t believe it.

I knew exactly how to answer that question. How that Canada has been a blessing to the world. The Canadian nationals scoffed and said that they didn’t have much contribution.

Wait. What?!

I couldn’t believe what they were saying. So I told them.

Canada has been home to he homeless of the world. They take in so many when I spent a week in Toronto, after much intentionality I could only find 2 actual Canadians. Canada cares for the broken in the world.

And then the border. Prior to 9/11 the US/Canada border was the longest most open border in the world. Canada was a nation that could be trusted.

Canadians are some of the best people in the world. They are humble, kind and just wonderful. I have worked with many and you are truly a hidden treasure.

In this last year, I have spent days and hours watching events unfold in Canada that are distressing. And it’s strange as when I talk to some Canadians they barely know what’s going on. But then again what’s happening in Canada is what’s happening in the world.

But just know Canada that this person right here behind the keyboard has so much love and respect for your nation. You are an amazing, humble, welcoming people. Some of the best in the world.

An added bonus is Canada is so beautiful. Just don’t tell anyone. Let’s keep it a secret so we can keep it that way.

May God bless you Canada. May His peace be yours. May Jesus welcome you like you’ve welcomed the world.
