To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

Jeremiah! I’ve Missed You

When I was a kid, I loved the book of Jeremiah. I don’t know, but it was my favorite book in the Old Testament. Then in college in speech class we had to practice Bible reading with one chapter and my choice? Jeremiah 1. That alone will preach.

But in the last decade or so I’ve just bounced around the Bible and I don’t think I’ve ever bounced in Jeremiah much. But now that I’m going through the Bible book by book, I get to reconnect with a favorite.

Jeremiah is known for being chronologically all over the place, referencing different parts of the exile and jumping here to there. That’s Ok because if you’re writing a history you would want to probably go in order, but if you are writing thematically it’s Ok to jump around to support your theme.

Here’s a site where one can get Jeremiah according to his lifetime: https://www.bibletales.online/chronological-order-of-jeremiah/

I have a chronological Bible and I wonder how it reads through this book. I haven’t thought of it. I have considered next go through the Bible being one that is chronological. I’ve hesitated to use that particular study Bible focuses so much on the gods and pagan practices in its notes that it’s distracting.

Anyway, I still have a good while yet to get through the Scriptures and a lot can change between now and then

So here’s to Jeremiah. A prophet who was courageous and obedient.
