To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

Leadership Matters – 2 Chr 15

Leadership matters.  It really does.  And right now we are in a leadership crisis on a global level.  In every nation.

Leadership and especially Godly leadership is important.  And that’s not just true in politics which seems the forefront right now, but also in business, arts, entertainment, media, sports, religion and more.  Leadership is influence.

Let me say that again.  Leadership is influence.  It isn’t about the title.  Titles do matter.  But some people with titles are not necessarily the leaders.  Thing David and Saul.  Saul had the title of king.  But it was David who was the leader and who had the greatest influence over the people.

Leaders have the ability to lead people closer to the Lord and to follow in righteousness, or they can lead people down a dark path.  Everyone is responsible for what they do, but leadership, well, leads people.

I see this in King Asa’s revival.  When the prophet Azariah came to him and spoke courage into his heart, he wasn’t just personally inspired, he lead.  He did away with evil and called people back to repentance.  He sacrificed offerings for that repentance and lead people to renew the covenant.  It was revival in Israel because the leader of the land pursued righteousness.

Good leaders take action in Godly ways.

Good leaders inspire others to greatness.

Good leaders lead people in righteousness.

Good leaders lead in the right spirit, in the right way at the right time.

We are in need of righteous leaders to rise up.  Leaders who walk in righteousness and holiness.  Who have integrity of speech and integrity of action.

The truth is we are all leaders in some way.  It may just be leading your children.  It may mean leading and influencing others in your work.  It may mean being a leader in your church, community or nation.

Leaders are people who influence others.  Some have very broad scopes of leadership.  Some have less.  Some are leaders of 10’s, others 100’s, others 1000’s, others millions, and a few lead billions.

The point is this.  We all have influence of some kind.

It’s time we lead well.
