Perhaps a successful day and a meaningful life is less about getting to do all the things that are in our hearts to do. But perhaps it is more about whether or not we have loved well. A successful day is one in which we have loved well, loved ourselves, loved others. A successful life is one in which we have day after day worked to love.
We may or may not get the opportunity to do the things our hearts desire. This is painful. Very, very, very painful. But it doesn’t mean our lives our wasted. God’s greatest command is to love. And that’s something we can practice doing every day.
