refreshed - Acts 3:20

This is the Source of Our Refreshment – Acts 3:20

Refreshed.  It’s a beautiful thing.  It’s when we are tired, weary, or just need a break, and we go away.  Or taking a shower after we have become filthy from our work.  Or we take a vacation to get a change of scenery and get perspective.  We come back refreshed.

Refreshed is being lighter, energetic, clean, and new joy to face what comes next.  We all do well when we are refreshed.

But do you know the source of refreshment Biblically?  Or at least in one place?

“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19-20).

What refreshes our soul?  It is when we turn to Christ, repent of our sins and experience his forgiveness.  It is then that our souls get “refreshed.”

You know what is interesting?  We cannot be fully refreshed if we still have dirt clinging to us.  We are refreshed when all the dirt comes off of us.  Like in a shower.  Like with repentance and forgiveness.

No more condemnation.

No more shame.

Just clean.

Forgiven.

Man might not forgive.  We might try to stay in our shame.

But God longs for our hearts and souls and lives to be refreshed through the forgiveness that comes through Christ from repentance.

Go.

Let’s find refreshment for our souls.
