What does a brother in the Lord and in ministry mean? Such a gift is life.
“When I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ, even though a door was opened for me in the Lord, my spirit was not at rest because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I took leave of them and went on to Macedonia” (2 Cor 2:12-13).
Paul had an open door in the Lord, but he was torn. He missed his brother, his son in the faith (Titus 1:4). Whenever Titus was around, he brought comfort (2 Cor 7:6, 13). So what did Paul choose? After a short time of ministry, he chose to leave to go look for Titus. That’s how much a brother means in the Lord.
Age was not an issue as Titus was young. Race was not an issue as Titus was a Greek. What mattered was that he was a brother in the Lord and a deep comfort for Paul.
One of the most challenging things can be to find brothers and sisters in the Lord who will run with us in our calling. Finding them is a precious part of the journey in Christ.
Let’s pray that we have those in life. When we have them, let’s value those relationships. And when they need to leave our lives and move on to other things, let’s bless them with full and open hearts of love.
