Welcome the King of Glory! – Ps 24

This psalm is just one that is meant to be sung and was I’m sure for many occasions and events:

Lift up your heads, you gates;
    be lifted up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord strong and mighty,
    the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, you gates;
    lift them up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
    The Lord Almighty—
    he is the King of glory.

I can imagine singing it’s three parts.  Is summation,

The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.
Those who trust him and do not turn to idols will join Him in his holy place.
Open up your gates and let the King of Glory into the temple!  He is the King!

It’s good to remind ourselves in song that He is the King of glory.  He is not just our comfort in hard times, but rather the glorious King, ruler of heaven and earth.

The earth and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants, belong to the LORD” (Ps 24:1).

Let the songwriters of our praise and worship lyrics return to such splendor even as the hymns of old.  We all need reminded it is not about God only as the helper of man, but rather the glory of God being lifted up from the peoples of the earth.
