To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

We’ve Had More than Enough – Ps 123

We’ve had more than enough scorn from the arrogant and contempt from the proud” (Ps 123:4).

Our eyes look to you for favor and deliverance from the arrogant and proud.  That’s how you could sum up this short psalm.   There’s a continuous looking to the LORD for deliverance.

Maybe that’s something that appears small.  But it isn’t in any way.  Deliverance from one’s enemies the Israelites were reminded, knew and called to practice came from the LORD.  It didn’t come from a mighty army or a mighty king.  But first and foremost from the Lord.

Who do we run to when oppressed?  Or do we go to the place of anger and bitterness when we feel like we can’t escape from oppressive people and situations.  Are our prayers more supplication, complaint or both?  I think the psalms actually make a case for both.

But in all situations, we must remember that it is the LORD who helps and delivers us.
