To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

What We Learn About Ecclesiastes

Not going to lie, Ecclesiastes was a tough one this round.  It can be such a heavy, depressing book to read.  Just everything futile.  Some seasons life it can be good, but this season was a tough read.

But Solomon is right on so many levels.  We need to stop and ask what the point of this life is?  We come, we live, we die.  Then we are not remembered much more nor are ours works valued very much longer. So what’s the significance of our lives?

Solomon ends it is to fear God and keep His commands, for this is for all humanity.  Because will bring every act into judgment.

What I got most out of Ecclesiastes this time is that it is also good to enjoy the things of this life.  Not in sinful ways, but the righteous pleasure that comes from family, a good days work, and the enjoyment that comes with just life in general.  I’ve had such a hard season the last number of years I think it is good to remember this.

I just got out of the hospital so I’m still quite woozy.  But yes, it’s good to enjoy the life we have and the good things in it.  Much better to enjoy what we have than be rich and upset at what we don’t have.
