To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

What We Learn in Lamentations

It’s a tough book to read honestly. It is absolutely disgusting what humanity will stoop to when faced with dire circumstances. And we are all susceptible to the same thing. We never know what horrific circumstances will change us into.

But here’s what we learn:

  1. God means what he says he means. People didn’t believe in God’s judgment because it was so slow in coming. But his slowness was his kindness, hoping that there would be repentance. It’s like the same thing today when people say, ‘If God is real then let him strike me with lightning.’. Because he doesn’t isn’t an indicator he isn’t real, but that he kind to man’s stupidity.
  2. We will all face judgment someday. We will and if we are not right with the LORD, then that’s a problem.
  3. When God hands us over to be judged, it will be awful. That happens as nations do not repent. Where do you think your nation is right now? Worthy of judgment? Or fine?
  4. There is hope even in despair. In fact, the goodness of God is mentioned even among this horror.
  5. If God did not spare Israel, how much more will he not spare the Gentile nations?
