The other day I asked someone to join me in ministry as the Lord says to go out by the 2’s. When we can, this is the ideal. As we were talking, the person said to me, “When I minister to the people group on my heart, I don’t proselytize. I live and love them and wait for them to come ask my questions.”
Saints, this is not right.
When did evangelism get rebranded into the word proselytization? Evangelism is loving people with truth. Proselytization is an ugly word of trying to force belief’s down someone’s throat. So when we replace the nuance of the words, people hold back from engaging in evangelism. They don’t want to be known as someone who “proselytizes.”
What do the Scriptures say to do? Do they say to love people and wait for them to see your good life and ask you questions about your faith?
No!
The gospel is a “go” gospel.
Jesus went. What if he had stayed home and waited for everyone to come? They might have as he did miracles, but he would not have spread the truth of His love wide.
And what about the apostles? What about Paul? Did he stay home?
No, he went. And he was almost killed multiple times. But he went! And he went again.
The gospel has always been about going. Not about staying. Not about simply loving. Not about being quiet and waiting until someone comes.
The world will not be won this way.
Souls will not come into the kingdom this way.
Don’t let satan rebrand gospel words to justify inaction.
