For a people not prepared, God led the Israelites through the long way in the desert so they did not have to face war, a kindness to the Israelites.

God led the people with signs in the sky so the Israelites did not turn against Moses for taking the long way, a kindness to Moses.

In the brutal heat He lead them with a cloud to cool them, a kindness to all.

And at night in the freezing cold of the desert he warmed them with a pillar of fire, a kindness to humanity.

No judgment.  No condemnation.  No cries for them to suck it up.

Just kindness.  And comfort.  And the tenderness of a God who cared.
