Last night I was saying to the LORD that sometimes my heart didn’t feel like I was connecting with him through reading things like Zecheriah. The imagery is just strange and difficult to wade through.
Then it came to my mind that all the imagery of the time is like the modern movie of today. It’s storytelling through the use of images. It’s like the Matrix, the Chronicles of Narnia or even the Hunger Games. There’s a message greater than the images.
That’s Zecheriah. Powerful and meaningful to them. But a bit harder to wade through as the movie isn’t a 1920’s movie but a “hundreds of years BC” movie.
It was important though to communicate truth this way. Stories impact our hearts and are memorable.
I was reminded of this when I saw Sound of Freedom this week. You really should go see it if you can. Stories and images move us in ways that mere facts cannot. History belongs to those who tell the stories well.
