What’s the Story?

I’ve had a love for the Word for as long as I can remember. Perhaps since the time that a pastor came into our 5th grade classroom and handed out Bibles to everyone. It was more permissible then.

I have the Bachelor’s in Bible and Theology and an MA in New Testament and further studies in the Bible. And when it comes to OT things that get challenging I have many good phone-a-friends in ministry.

This blog started many years ago as I set out to memorize the New Testament/Psalms/Proverbs (a work still in progress). Since then it has morphed as I have started blogging the Bible systematically and that’s where I’m at today.

For me I’m not necessarily thinking of the world when I’m writing so much as reflecting on what I’m reading. When I write it down it forces me think more carefully about what it’s saying. And the fact that so many of you come and look over my shoulder touches me deeply.

My heart’s desire is to be a proclaimer of truth. To be a person who teaches the Word in season and out.

When I look at all the madness in the world, I see so much of it is that we as cultures and civilizations have lost a love and fear of the Lord. We have lost our True North. This is true even in the church where I see that a Bible poverty has manifest itself as well.

In fact, a couple of weeks ago during church the pastor asked the congregation what topics the church would like to have him cover. In this 500+ member congregation one of this biggest questions was, “Why did Jesus have to die?”

I was shocked that people didn’t know the answer to this as this is such a fundamental question to the Christian faith. How could “many” not know this? It’s absolutely startling that we have drifted so far. I want to be a part of changing that. And one day I hope more doors will open up along those lines.

Thank you for coming here. I hope you too are challenged in the Word. And I hope you will come back often.

Blessings,
