Burundi, thank you for coming by!
I look at you and I see such a beautiful country:
If I’m honest the only thing I know about Burundi is the terrible history with its neighbors that made global news. I hope the nation is facing a new chapter of life.
I read that about 80-90% of the nation is considered Christian. And yet I read some terrible statistics. Poorest country in the world second only to Haiti. Worst on the global hunger index. History of civil war and war with neighbors. And I wonder why?
Typically where the gospel is preached and applied, there is a resounding increase in the well-being of the people. So it makes me wonder if it is discipleship issues. Or blaming others issues. I don’t know. I’ve never been there.
But let’s pray for you Burundi.
Lord, we ask that you pour out your love and your Spirit on Burundi. That you would raise up the Christians to be salt and light in their nation. That they would live generously towards one another, generous with funds, resources, relationships, forgiveness, love, and kindness. May you write a new story in this beautiful nation. Let it no longer be known for statistics such as these. Let this nation be a light to the world just as Jesus is the light to the world.
Thank you for this nation and people. Raise up a new generation.
Thank you Lord.
Amen.
