Just this title makes me cringe. Mainly because I, too, crave respect. Disrespect is one of the hardest things to deal with, especially when it comes from people I care about.
There were many rich people in Jesus’ time. And they too were respect addicts. They made a show of putting in great sums of money into the offering. They were proud of what they could contribute.
But there was one who caught his attention the most. It was the woman who could offer barely anything.
She wasn’t offering it out of hopes and promises to get money back. But she offered it out of worship. It wasn’t much. But it was all she had.
Jesus honored her.
She might not have had money. But she had something greater.
Love.
And it showed in her quiet actions.
