Sometimes this is the desire of our hearts. Sometimes, if I’m honest, when the temptation to flirt with sin dangles in front of us, it’s harder to want to desire holiness.
Peter speaks of the return of Christ and the destruction of the heavens and the earth with fire. In this context, he says we must prepare our hearts:
“Therefore, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with him” (2 Pet 3:14).
Make Every Effort.
We prepare our hearts with diligence to holiness. He is a holy God. He is coming back for a holy people.
Peter says also to make every effort to be at peace with him. When we are at war with sin in our hearts, there is no peace. Peace comes from living in righteousness and connection with God.

What do we need to do, or not do, TODAY, to make every effort to meet the Lord in a spotless and blameless way?
