Sing. Sing praise. Sing praise to His name. Because it is delightful (v. 3).
He is the author of creation. “He causes the clouds to rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain and brings the wind from his storehouses” (v. 7).
He is also the one who delivered Israel from the Egyptians through mighty miracles. He sent signs and wonders to pharaoh and struck down mighty kings before them, powerful kings such as Og and Sihon. He gave them the land of the Canaanites.
The people worship idols. Idols that if you think about them are ridiculous. They are made by human hands and fashioned with eyes, ears and mouths but being wood such idols cannot see, hear or speak.
“Those who make them are just like them, as are all who trust in them” (v. 18).
Therefore all peoples have good reason to praise the Lord. Those who are Israel and those who are grafted-in to Israel.
When all seems bleak and our eyes are focused on the turmoil of this world, we must stop and remember and participate in praising the Lord. Praise the Lord!
