“At the window of my house I looked through my lattice. I saw among the inexperienced, I noticed among the youths, a young man lacking sense” (Prov 7:6).
The young man just was “near” the beautiful woman. He wasn’t at her house, just nearby, perhaps just to catch a glimpse of her. But it is a deadly thing to do.
She comes out and lures him to her house “for food.” Then the rest is history as her husband is gone.
“Now, my sons, listen to me, and pay attention to the words of my mouth. Don’t let your heart turn aside to her ways; don’t stray onto her paths. For she has brought many down to death; her victims are countless. Her house is the road to Sheol, descending to the chambers of death” (Prov 7:27).
Yes, it’s too much even to go “near.”
“Flee,” says Paul.
“Run” is the example of Joseph.
Don’t even think you are strong enough.
