To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

Can’t Happen Here – Is 15

Many a nation, especially the more powerful ones, have assumed that they are almost quasi-invincible.  The “it can’t happen here” mentality.    And yet every nation in human history has fallen at one point.  It will happen.  It is happening.  Whole civilizations fall.  Western civilization is collapsing even as we speak.

The Moabites too were a proud people.  Certainly they wouldn’t fall.  But Isaiah is saying they would.  And they did.

Their cities were ruined.  Blood was shed.  Their waters dried up.  Their wealth was stolen.  And even then their destruction was not yet complete.

The people lamented, grieved and wailed, but it didn’t change the fact–their sins had finally caught up with themselves and they were now destroyed.
