To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

Christian Fatalism – An Anathema

I saw a comment on a post that really disturbed me the other day and has stuck in my craw. I follow on Facebook Abby Johnson who is leader in the fight against abortion. Having served many years as a Planned Parenthood director, she has come to see the light.

She said something about children dying and one person responded in the comments that if they didn’t die from abortion, they were going to die anyone. Why? Because the LORD says,

all my days were written in Your book and planned
before a single one of them began.
(Psalm 139:16)

Other commentators chimed in, “Yes!” “So true!” “Correct!”

I wanted to add my voice but I didn’t feel the permission of the LORD to do so. But I wanted to ask, “If you believe this, then why have hospitals, medicines, or prayers for the sick as the Bible commands?” Because otherwise death is the LORD’s will because he knows before hand when they will die. Therefore it must be his will.

THIS. IS. SICK.

It is Christian fatalism and pagan. ‘What will be, will be.’

And let’s face it, in a medical emergency they would call 911 and rush to the hospital and take medicines.

The fruit of this fatalism is inaction. If it’s going to happen anyway, we shouldn’t try to stop it. Or if we try to stop it and someone dies, it’s somehow God’s will for them to die.

Sometimes people die because of man’s inaction, and God never desired that. If you read in Scripture, he was furious when the children were harmed and killed. They died before their time. He didn’t stop it because he honors freedom and free-will.
