During communion today at church the pastor talked about how it was for Jesus to empty himself.  Going from the wealth and splendor of heaven to something equivalent of living in a slum (earth).  But it made me think as this is something missionaries do all the time and do so willingly.

I think the harder part was to go from a place of peace, joy, kindness, rejoicing, life, etc…and come to a place of sadness, depression, anxiety, loneliness, cruelty, evil, etc..  Entering into that world surrounded by that had to be awful.  And then to become sin and all these things on the cross, horrific.
