One of the most important thing you can know is your mission in life. It defines your “yes” and your “no.” If you do not have that focus, you will say yes to things you should not say yes to, and no to things you should not. Your purpose gets distracted. Needs distract you.
Jesus knew his purpose.
And when it was day, he departed and went into a desolate place. And the people sought him and came to him, and would have kept him from leaving them, but he said to them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.” 44 And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
The people tried to dissuade him. They wanted him to stay. He was doing such great work–healing and delivering the people. Wasn’t their enough people that needed healed at home? Why go off and try to “save the world”? Wasn’t there enough unsaved, unhealed people at home?
What missionary has not heard that?
But Jesus knew his purpose was greater. His mission was greater. His life was meant for the cross. So he told them no.
Know your “yes.” Know your “no.” Know why you are sent on this earth. Fulfill that mission.
