To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

The Peter Moment – John 6:68

Sometimes in life you come to a terrible place where you truly don’t understand unanswered prayer during your prolonged suffering.  You come to the Peter moment.  That moment where Jesus has preached the most unusual sermon “drink my blood and eat my flesh” and you don’t understand.

BUT.

You know and understand that Jesus is the way of life.  There is no other.  So though you don’t understand, there’s nowhere else to go.

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
And so you continue on.  You acknowledge that you don’t understand at all.  But you don’t walk away, because there’s no one else to turn to.

Perhaps later Peter understood better.  But maybe he didn’t.  But because he stayed the course, the Lord used him in mighty ways.  In his successes.  And in his failures.

Sometimes we hit that Peter moment. We know there’s nowhere else to turn.  It’s not an act of the will, but something we know deep in my spirit that he is truth.  So we stay.  And hopefully one day we will be like Peter–used mightily in our successes and used in our failures.
