There’s so much that could be said of Genesis.
- How does it mesh with chapter 2
- How does a plurality work as a singular in the first verse?
- What does it mean in the image of God?
- What does it mean to be male and female in his image?
- How do we even know there is a God?
- Is this a figurative or literal description of heaven?
So much to ponder.
In Hebrews 1:10 it says:
“In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
Sometimes you just have to stop on the cognitive pondering and switch to marveling at the sheer beauty. The variety, the color, the intelligence of creation is just staggering. And it’s real and tangible. Then there are the stars, the moon, the sun, the universe which we often do not think about. We are so focused on our phones we forget to look up and out and marvel.
God did this.
And we can learn so much from studying creation. There is great variety, color and harmony. It all works together for good and glory.
For me I think of the flowers. So many are tiny and petite and adorn the tables. And then there are the tall flowers that do not fit the paradigm such as giant sunflowers that are still flowers in every way, but do not look like all the others.
I think of some plants that are best kept separate from one another so that they can prosper. Walnut trees cannot be around flowers as the liquid from the walnut will poison the flower.
I think of other plants that are harmonious. Plant the marigold near tomato plants and they will help drive some of the bugs away.
