Sing, Clap, Praise and Be Joyful – Ps 47

I literally dusted off my keyboard this morning.  Truth be told the last (many) months have been times of very little prayer and worship.  I pray throughout the day but I mean set aside on-your-knees king of prayer.  And worship?  Let’s say the dust was thick.  I don’t naturally default to music, singing and worship.

But today I woke up early, needing the Lord.  Realizing how utterly selfish I’ve become in recent times.  I’ve been caring more for my own needs, concerns and pressing matters that press, press, press than I have been just worshiping the Lord.

Ps 47 is all about worship.  “Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with a jubilant cry” (Ps 47:1).

And maybe the message I need to hear is right there in that praise:

Sing praise to God, sing praise; sing praise to our King, sing praise!  Sing a song of wisdom, for God is King of all the earth.  God reigns over the nations; God is seated on His holy throne” (Ps 47:6-8).

It’s honestly the message I need to hear.   The news each day tells us evil reigns.  But that is only a face.  It is God who reigns over the nations.  He is King of all the earth.

It’s a messy world out there.  It’s easy to lose sight of
