You can read something your whole life in the Scripture, and then one day you see it for the first time. It’s that life experience has opened up in a dramatic way the truth. For me when I come to Proverbs 22, there’s a verse in there that is like a profound slap in the face. I still have a bitterness in my mouth that needs cleansing (Jesus, help me!), but there’s that verse.
“Drive out a mocker, and conflict goes too; then quarreling and dishonor will cease” (Prov 22:10).
Life experience taught me how utterly true this is. I never knew how truly deep a mocker could problems in one’s life. And how good things could be when they left.
Mockery is a sin we never talk about it. But oh is it deadly.
Lord, heal me.
