“All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God” (1 Cor 3:21b-23).

The Corinthians have been fighting over which man they follow – Peter, Apollos, Paul, etc… Paul says it firmly, “no more boasting about men!” (v. 21).  Then he tells them, “all things are yours.”

He then makes the point, why boast on men?  When we have Christ, we have everything.  We have each other as we serve one another in Christ.  Which means we have all the leaders they were boasting about.  We have the world, we have life, death, present, and the future.  All of these are because of Christ.

And because we have Christ, we have God.  What more do we need?

It’s futile if we truly have everything, to fight over particulars.

On the side, its good to remember how much we really do have.  In Christ, we have all that is important for life and for death.  We have everything we need in that which eternally important,.
