I hear so many times people choosing Christianity or that they converted to Christianity, but I have a bit of knee-jerk reaction to this. Why?
Because Christianity does not save.
“Christianity” is the name of the faith, but it is the religious description.
Christianity does not save us. Christ does.
We do not convert to Christianity, we give our lives to Christ
It may seem like a small thing, like a slight nuance of words. And it’s true. We all know what people are talking about. But words matter.
I remember when you would never call a baby in the womb a “fetus,” it was only a baby. But then “baby” was removed from the common vernacular and the baby is now more often called a “fetus.” This slight shift offers a dehumanized label and made abortion much easier to swallow. It’s one thing to kill a baby. It’s another to “terminate a fetus.”
Something little had huge ramifications.
Is it a matter of faith? No.
But I do believe it is important.
We don’t point people to Christianity.
We point them to Christ.
