Elisha, the great prophet, the double-anointed prophet, the one who did mighty miracles was now dying of illness. ?? If Elisha was so great, why couldn’t he heal himself? Get a miracle from God for himself. Hadn’t he been faithful to the Lord?
Even after he died, there were still more miracles. Some people were burying a man when they saw a raiding party. In fear and needing to move hastily, they threw the man’s body into the tomb of Elisha. When it touched the bones of Elisha, the man was brought back to life. The anointing of the LORD hovered over him even after he passed away.
Yet he passed away. Elisha.
At some point we all day in one way or another. Life and death are in the hands of the Lord. How we die is not something in our hands. We do what we can to honor and care for the life God has given us, but at some point we all go.
What matters is what we do. Even in the last moments of Elisha’s life, he is still ministering to others. He is still acting as a prophet as he is prophesying over King Jehoash.
What will we do in our final moments and final breaths? Curse God because we are dying after serving so many others? Wonder where our miracle comes from when we’ve seen so many miracles of others? Or will he find us fulfilling our life’s purposes down to our last breaths.
Something to ponder.
