To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

God Doesn’t Dwell Here – 2 Chr 2

How can God dwell in a temple?  He can’t.

But who is able to build a temple for Him, since even heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain Him?” (2 Chr 2:4).

Solomon acknowledged this from the beginning.  He was going to build a temple in which to offer sacrifices and offerings, but clearly God could not dwell there in his fullness, only in a reflection of His Presence and glory.

Who am I then that I should build a temple for Him except as a place to burn incense before Him?” (2 Chr 2:6).

We can have sacred spaces and sacred places on this earth, but these are not the Lord.  God can come and have His presence in that place, or He can leave it.  He is bigger than the universe and nothing can contain Him.  But in His goodness He makes it so that sometimes He shares a bit of his glory in special places on earth.
