Being around artist, especially Christian artists, filled with the Holy Spirit, helps you to shift perspective. Artists by their very nature are very sensitive to things in the spirit. In many ways, they are the first to catch the wind of the spirit. They are also the ones who send the message to the masses.
Many people have watched the movie Amazing Grace in which the British slave trade was brilliantly demolished. But what they do not know are the two key players in the background.
He was a politician, making futile claim after futile claim before the legislature to no avail. The first key player was his pastor – John Newton. He was the one who authored Amazing Grace. He was only a former slave trader. He never stopped encouraging Wilber in his endeavor to end the slave trade.
But try as he might, Wilber just could not make progress. He was a lone voice. He needed the masses behind him and the masses didn’t have any desire to hear the speeches of a politician. Finally, the answer clicked. Wilberforce needed to get help from an artist.
One of his friends was a poet. He had suffered depression and back in the time of Wilberforce, this meant a person had to go in and out of an insane asylum. Glad that isn’t the case today.
But Wilberforce’s friend was behind him and started writing poetry against the slave trade. It was published in local newspapers. The poems took off. It was only then that masses came behind Wilberforce.
The artist changed the nation. Because the artist could reach the masses.
Artists both have a proclivity for being sensitive to what God is doing in the Spirit, and an ability to communicate it to the masses. The rest of the people are often slow to catch on.
One such teaching I was under pointed this truth out. The practical application was to look at what the artists were producing in film. Movies take on average 7 years (at that time) to go from start to finish. So when multiple movies come out on the same topic or same subject, it may just be that the artists are catching a wind in the move of the Spirit.
Sure enough, that was the year that multiple Snow White movies came out. When watching one of them, the Spirit whispered to me that the story of Snow White was going to be in some ways prophetic of what would happen with the church.
I was surprised.
A few years ago I was reminded of it again. I met a young homeless man. He said he was kicked out of his house because he was painting pictures of dragons. He told me that he wasn’t making them, but that was what he was seeing in his spirit.
Perhaps he had a spiritual gift that his parents didn’t realize. I don’t know.
I haven’t thought more of that teaching or such scenarios since the homeless boy. Until today.
All of a sudden I realized something. Have you noticed how many David movies have come out or are coming out?
- The House of David Series online
- Angel studios David movie that comes out on Friday
- The Sight and Sound theater doing a production on David
This is not normal. These companies do not work together. Yet all of a sudden at the end of 2025, we are getting several movies and productions on David.
Could the Lord be speaking again through the artists? That Christians are going to enter into a season like David? A boy facing a giant?
On a personal note, I had a friend at a ministry tell me they had a strange massive donation of harps. Harps? And at the mall I went to earlier this week, there was a harp ensemble getting ready to do a presentation.
It doesn’t mean that the occurrences of David are just for me. The movies are international. But perhaps the harps were to get my attention to notice a theme.
Maybe I’m wrong.
But maybe I’m not.
Maybe the artists are catching the wind of the spirit of what is ahead. And giving us encouragement to not see as man sees, but to see like David did.
