Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages  but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith— to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen.

1) God is able to strengthen us according to the gospel.

Confession, hearing the words “my gospel” is kind of hard to stomach.  But this is Paul’s way of saying, “this is the gospel that I preach.”  It’s a cultural thing that is skewed when brought past time and history into modern english.

But the point is this.  God is able to establish us in the gospel.  To give us strength and a firm foundation.

2) The mystery of the Gospel is now revealed in Jesus Christ

There was so much mystery around the first coming of Christ.  Yes, there were 100’s of specific prophecies but how all the puzzle pieces fit together was uncertain.  Until Christ came.  And then it made sense.

The gospel was to be one of faith.  And it was also to be on in which all peoples would be blessed, including the Gentiles.

The end goal and desire is that all peoples would come to the obedience of faith so that God would receive the glory forevermore through Jesus Christ.
