It Continues with the Hadith

The hadith (Islam’s teachings of the prophet) continue to confound me with more questions. For example, it says that daughters that are buried alive go to Hell???? Then in another place it says children buried alive go to Paradise. So according to the prophet of Islam, which is it? And why on earth would any child go to Hell for something they did not do? So Muslims, here are some questions that disturb me.

1) Does a child buried alive go to Paradise or Hell?

‘Amir reported the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) as saying : The woman who buries alive her new-born girl and the girl who is buried alive both will go to Hell. This tradition has also been transmitted
Ibn Mas’ud from the Prophet (May peace be upon him) to the same effect through a different chain of narrators
(Sunan Abi Dawud 4717).

Narrated Hasana’ daughter of Mu’awiyah: She reported on the authority of her paternal uncle: I asked the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص): Who are in Paradise? He replied: Prophets are in Paradise, martyrs are in Paradise, infants are in Paradise and children buried alive are in Paradise” (Sunan Abi Dawud 2521).

2) How can no man bear the burdens of another and yet this happens for muslims?

Every soul draws the meed of its acts on none but itself: no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another (Quran 6:154).

Abu Burda reported Allah’s Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) as saying: There would come
people amongst the Muslims on the Day of Resurrection with as heavy sins
as a mountain, and Allah would forgive them and He would place in their
stead the Jews and the Christians” (Sahih Muslim 2767d).

3) Do Muslims imitate Jews or not?

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, “The Jews and the Christians do not dye (their
grey hair), so you shall do the opposite of what they do (i.e. dye your grey hair and beards)
” (Sahih al-Bukhari 3462).

Narrated Ibn Abbas: Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) used to let his hair hang down while the infidels used to part their hair. The people of the Scriptures were used to letting their hair hang down and Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) liked to follow the people of the Scriptures in the matters about which he was not instructed otherwise. Then Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) parted his hair” (Sahih al-Bukhari 3558).

4) How can someone be created for sin and then judged as a sinner?

Abu Sirmah narrated from Abu Ayyub, that: when death reached him, he said: “I have concealed something I heard from the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) from you. I heard the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) saying: ‘If you did not sin, Allah would create a creation that would sin, so He will forgive them’” (Jami at-Tirmidhi 3539).

5) Why the exception to this teaching?
O ye who believe! Enter not the Prophet’s houses,- until leave is given you,- for a meal, (and then) not (so early as) to wait for its preparation: but when ye are invited, enter; and when ye have taken your meal, disperse, without seeking familiar talk. Such (behaviour) annoys the Prophet: he is ashamed to dismiss you, but Allah is not ashamed (to tell you) the truth” (Quran 33:53).

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: The believer who mixes with people and bears their annoyance with patience will have a greater reward than the believer who does not mix with people and does not put up with their annoyance” (Sunan Ibn Majah 4032).

6) If Hell is predestined, how is one to know? And why even try to do good deeds? Where is the age of accountability?

“’A’isha, the mother of the believers, said that Allah’s Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) was called to lead the funeral prayer of a child of the Ansar. I said: Allah’s Messenger, there is happiness for this child who is a bird from the birds of Paradise for it committed no sin nor has he reached the age when one can commit sin. He said: ‘A’isha, per adventure, it may be otherwise, because God created for Paradise those who are fit for it while they were yet in their father’s loins and created for Hell those who are to go to Hell. He created them for Hell while they were yet in their father’s loins” (Sahih Muslim 2662c).

7) Treat women nicely or however you want?

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah ‘s Apostle said, “Treat women nicely, for a women is created from a rib, and the most curved portion of the rib is its upper portion, so, if you should try to straighten it, it will break, but if you leave it as it is, it will remain crooked. So treat women nicely” (Sahih al-Bukhari 3331).

But then the reality:

  • If your fear a woman’s disobedience, beat her (the Arabic does not have
the word “lightly” – Quran 4:34).
  • You can have sex with a married woman if you take her in battle (Quran
    4:24; Sahih Muslim 1456a)
  • You can marry, have sex and divorce a child all prior to puberty (Quran
65:4 cross referenced with Quran 33:49)
  • The prophet married a 6 year old and consummated the marriage at 9
    years old Sahih al-Bukhari 7:62:88; Sahih al-Bukhari 6130).
    3
  • If a woman is tricked into marriage against her will, then the marriage
    stands (Sahih al-Bukhari 6971;Sahih al-Bukhari 6968)
  • Women are deficient in intelligence (Sahih al-Bukhari 304;2658).
  • Women are deficient in commitment (Sahih al-Bukhari 304;2658).
  • Women make up the fuel of hell (Sahih al-Bukhari, 304)
  • Women are bad omens (Quran – 64.14).
  • A woman’s testimony is only half as valued (Sahih al Bukhari 2658).
  • A nation will never prosper if a woman is a leader (Sahih al-Bukhari
    7099)
  • Women were compared to dogs and donkeys (Sahih al-Bukhari 514)
  • The prophet used his slaves for sex and when his wives complained, he
received a revelation that it was of Allah (Sunan an-Nasa’i 3959)
  • A woman turned green from abuse and the prophet said it was the
    woman’s fault (Sahih al-Bukhari 5825)
  • Islam’s prophet banned his wives from ever remarrying- Aisha was only
18 years old and childless when Islam’s Prophet died – Quran 33:53).
  • If a woman is asked whether she wants to marry a man, if she stays quiet,
her silence is her consent (Sahih al-Bukhari 6968)
  • Heaven is mainly about men having sex with virgin women (Qur’an
56:35-36 (the verses are many); Sahih al-Bukhari 3327).
  • 8) Sexual Immorality is wrong, correct? So why is adultery mandated? Two teachings:

Abdullah (b. Mas’ud) (Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah’s Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said to us: O young men, those among you who can support a wife should marry, for it restrains eyes (from casting evil glances) and preserves one from immorality; but he who cannot afford It should observe fast for it is a means of controlling the sexual desire’ (Sahih Muslim 1400c).
  • But then there’s this:
Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Apostle (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) as saying: Verily Allah has fixed the very portion of adultery which a man will indulge in, and which he of necessity must commit. The adultery of the eye is the lustful look, and the adultery of the tongue is the licentious speech, the heart desires and yearns, which the parts may or may not put into effect” (Sahih Muslim 2657b).

    9) The Prophet said he was a sinner, so why would someone model their life
    after a sinner
    ?
Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah’s Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) saying.” By Allah! I ask for forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day” (Sahih al-Bukhari 6307).

    10) Why is obeying the prophet the same as obeying Allah, especially
    considering he was a sinner
    ?

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said: “Whoever obeys me, obeys Allah, And whoever disobeys me, disobeys Allah. Whoever obeys the ruler, obeys me, and whoever disobeys the ruler, disobeys me” (Sunan Ibn Majah 2859).

    11) The word “muslim” means “to submit,” right? And it is assumed that this submission is to Allah. But the Quran says one must submit to the prophet. Why is the prophet demanding equal submission to him as to Allah? And yes, this is the word “submission.”

But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you
have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission
    ” (Quran – Surat l’Nisaa 4:65).

    12) They worshipped him???? This was at his death.

So the people came to Abu Bakr and left Umar. Abu Bakr said, "To proceed, if anyone amongst you used to worship Muhammad , then Muhammad is dead, but if (anyone of) you used to worship Allah, then Allah is Alive and shall never die” (Sahih al-Bukhari 4452, 4453, 4454)

    13) Why were these actions not stopped? Weren’t they placing him in a place equal to Allah?

Anas b. Malik (Allah be pleased with him) reported: When Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) had thrown pebbles at the Jamra and had sacrificed the animal, he turned (the right side) of his head towards the barber, and i. e shaved it. He then called Abu Talha al-Ansari and gave it to him. He then turned his left side and asked him (the barber) to shave. And he (the barber) shaved. and gave it to Abu Talha and told him to distribute it amongst the people” (Sahih Muslim 1305d).

Narrated Abu Juhaifa: Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) came to us at noon and water for ablution was brought to him. After he had performed ablution, the remaining water was taken by the people and they started smearing their bodies with it (as a blessed thing)” (Sahih al-Bukhari 187).

Narrated Ibn Shihab: Mahmud bin Ar-Rabi who was the person on whose face the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) had ejected a mouthful of water from his family’s well while he was a boy, and `Urwa (on the authority of Al-Miswar and others) who testified each other, said, “Whenever the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) , performed ablution, his companions were nearly fighting for the remains of the water” (Sahih al- Bukhari 189).
