Life is Hard. And then it Isn’t. – 2 Thessalonians 1:6-8

Life can be brutal sometimes and our heart gets raw.  Sometimes as we get older, we get tired of the fight.  One thing is it does make us long for the return of Jesus much more.

In the midst of this we also sometimes wonder why our prayers aren’t answered the way we want them to be.  Where’s the healing?  Where’s the deliverance?  Where’s the relief?

The truth is that it is coming.  But not on our time table.  Oftentimes not in our immediate future.

Yes, God does miracles.  But not all the time.

Why?  Why not?

We don’t know for sure.  It’s where faith and trust comes in.

But we can have this hope.  One day very soon, it won’t be hard.  There will be justice.  There is hope of relief.

It’s coming.  But on His timetable.

In Thessalonica, they were facing so much persecution.  They were suffering.  Their families were hurting.  And life was HARD.  And God’s encouragement to them?  One day it will end.  Hang on.

God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.  He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus (2 Thess 1:6-8).

There’s hope for all of us in this text.  When Jesus returns, there will be justice. Vindication.  And relief.

Just keep hanging on.
