25 “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
Give the guy back his money. If you owe someone, pay them. Otherwise if you don’t pay them back, prison awaits.
So this one as I read it seems pretty simple. Make sure your accounts are settled. As I said this something popped in my mind.
Years ago I was at the beach all day swimming and we were hungry. We knew that a macademia nut shop had free samples. So we went there “for lunch.” It was selfish and wrong and stupid. Mac nuts are expensive. Samples are not meant for lunch but for a purpose.
Many years ago the Lord showed me that debt is always spiritual. It doesn’t matter that the Mac nut company isn’t coming after me. I wronged them and need to make it right. So I am.
So settle matters. If you owe somebody something, pay them back. Simple. Convicting.
