To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

Praise This Way – Ps 105

That day David first appointed Asaph and his associates to give praise to the Lord in this manner” (1 Chr 16:7) and then he gave them Psalm 105.  It was after the Lord brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD into the temple, and David was rejoicing and his wife was despising him (1 Chr 15).  (That’s just the way it goes oftentimes).

Give thanks to Yahweh, call on His name; proclaim His deeds among the peoples.  Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell about all His wonderful works!” (Ps 105:1-2).

Then the history of Israel is recounted.  Specifically, how they were so miraculously delivered from Egypt during the Exodus and settled in the land.  The LORD truly did amazing things for Israel.  Everywhere they went, He was blessing them even though they were rebelling against Him.  He protected them, provided them, guided them, and multiplied them.

All this happened so that they might keep His statues and obey His instructions.  Hallelujah!” (Ps 105:45).

David says to “praise the Lord in this manner.”  And that manner is to remember all the good things He has done.  Something we all need to do.   It makes me think I should do as I’ve sometimes done previously, keep a notebook of all that He does.
