To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

Rethinking our Prayers – Ephesians 6:19

“I’ll pray for your safety,” she said.  And I appreciated that prayer.  But then I challenged her.  More I challenged myself.

Is there any place in the Bible where we are encouraged to pray for each other’s safety?  Is there anywhere that Paul prayed for safety ?

I don’t see it.  I can’t think of any verses of such things.

What we do see is the prayer for boldness.

Acts 4:29
“And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Your bond-servants may speak Your word with all confidence”

Ephesians 6:19

19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel

Colossians 4:4

4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.

Prayers were for gospel boldness and clarity in gospel preaching.  They weren’t prayers for safety.  Safety is good.  But a clear, bold preaching of the gospel is even better.
