Running from sins:
Someone may think they are getting away with crime, literally or figurative, but in doing so they will always have to be watching their back. They will live in the paranoia of someone chasing them or finding them out. It’s not a pleasant way to live. But the one who lives free is the one who does not need to run.
“The wicked flee when no one is pursuing them, but the righteous are as bold as a lion” (v. 1).
“The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy” (v. 13).
“A man burdened by bloodguilt will be a fugitive until death. Let no one help him” (v. 17).
Get Rich Quick
The issue isn’t about acquiring wealth, it’s about chasing fantasies that a few simple actions will get you financially secure fast. It’s even worse in an internet age when we see examples of it happening–and they have a course to tell you how. Their success rate of their students I’m guessing is overall fairly low. The majority will have wasted their funds.
It’s good to try new endeavors, but we must also be careful.
“The one who works his land will have plenty of food, but whoever chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
A faithful man will have many blessings, but one in a hurry to get rich will not go unpunished” (v 19-20).
“A greedy man is in a hurry for wealth; he doesn’t know that poverty will come to him” (v. 22).
Wicked Rulers
When righteous rulers are in power, the people rejoice. But it crushing to the bones when foolish ones try to lead the way. Throughout the world we are coming more and more into this reality.
“A destitute leader who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no food” (v. 3).
“When the righteous triumph, there is great rejoicing, but when the wicked come to power, people hide themselves” (v. 12).
“A wicked ruler over a helpless people is like a roaring lion or a charging bear” (v. 15).
